1) About Us

We are a 501(c)(3) family-oriented recreation league in partnership with Major League Soccer and the San Jose Earthquakes. We are dedicated to bringing families together, strengthening relationships, and building new ones, all-the-while teaching players soccer fundamentals and opening up a safe and competitive environment to play MLS GO Soccer for youth between preschool and 10th grade.

Our mission is that any child who wants to play, will indeed play regardless of their financial circumstances.

We are a high-quality league, with our NFL Flag branch having been nominated at the 2022 NFL Flag Summit in New Orleans, LA, as one of the top new leagues in the nation out of approximately 700 other leagues. Again, at the 2023 NFL Flag Summit in Atlanta, GA, we were nominated for League of the Year as well as the Community-Based League of the Year. Ryan Sarna, the CEO and Founder of The Coach Sarna League was also invited as a guest speaker for two different segments at the 2023 Annual NFL Flag Conference in Atlanta, GA.

We are open to the public, so anyone can register for either or BOTH of our leagues regardless of where they live. We have families from all over Solano County, Napa County, and Contra Costa County, and as far away as Sacramento and San Francisco.

Our divisions are separated into All-Boys and All-Girls Divisions and by grade as much as possible (example All-Girls 2nd grade division or All-Boys 7th/8th grade division).

Being a community-based league, we stress team bonding events, attendance of our community events, and volunteerism amongst our families.

2) 2026 Winter Season Schedule:

Our 2026 Winter Season will begin on Saturday, February 7th with a coaches training clinic in partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes (coaches only), and end on Sunday, March 29th with The Coach Sarna League Championship Tournament.

Important Dates:

Monday, January 19th - Registration Closes
Tuesday, January 20th - Waitlist Opens
Saturday, February 7th - Coach Training Clinic (Coaches will receive uniforms for their teams at this event)
Monday, February 9th - Wednesday, March 4th - Mrs. Fields Cinnamon Roll Virtual Fundraiser
Wednesday, February 11th - Family Night with Uniforms location TBD
Sunday, February 15th - Opening Day Weekend
Sunday, March 22nd - Regular Season Ends
Sunday, March 29th - The Coach Sarna League MLS GO Championship Tournament

The game schedule will be subject to our final registrations so we know how many teams we will have. However, once a time is set for your division it will remain so for the whole season. For example, Pre-k - Kinder All-Girls division May run from 9am-10am. 5th and 6th grade All-Boys Divisions may run from 10:45 am - 12:45 pm. 7th and 8th grade All-Boys Divisions may run from 12:55 pm - 2:55 pm. 4th-5th All-Girls Division may run from 3pm - 5pm.

Practice times, days, and locations are determined by the coach and families of each team based on what works best for the team. Every team must have at least one practice per week. No team is allowed to have more than two practices per week as we are a recreation league.

All games will be on Sundays. Location is St. Pats High School: 1500 Benicia Road, Vallejo, CA, 94590

We will be a small-group style soccer league. Our youngest players will be in 3v3 games, our elementary players will be 5v5 and 6v6. Our Middle School Players will play in 7v7 soccer games.

3) Quick Points

Season Cost

We will continue to be the most affordable league in the area and offer our MLS GO Season at $125, which will include an MLS Jersey, MLS Shorts, MLS Socks, and a San Jose Earthquakes Ticket.

Download the GroupMe App

Most of our team, coach, and volunteer communications will come through the GroupMe App. This is a free download from your app store and makes communication with your team and coaches easy.
I will be communicating to coaches via GroupMe this season.

Coach/Buddy Requests

To have a specific coach or player requested (or not requested), please insert first and last names during your registration questions. Otherwise we will organize teams based on school, grade, gender, and skill-level. If a coach is bringing a roster to the league, they will need to email the roster to [email protected] and all players from that roster will need to be individually registered.

Non-volunteer Fee

We are a volunteer-based organization. Therefore, we require every participant to either volunteer OR pay a $40 nonwaivable fee (Paying this fee does not relieve the duty of fundraising, which is a separate waiver).

If it is discovered that a parent missed their volunteer day, they will be sent a request for the $40 non-volunteer fee. If that fee was not paid, they will be prohibited from waiving the volunteer fee in future seasons.

The following are our volunteer options:

Team Volunteer: 1 to 2 times per season your team will be assigned to Trash Duty, Set-Up Crew (first divisions), or Tear Down Crew (last scheduled divisions of the day)
Assistant Coach
Head Coach'

Waitlist

Our waitlist will open on Tuesday, January 20th. We will continue to fill rosters until the season begins. Once we begin games on Sunday, 2/15, rosters are locked and only teams that fall under the minimum recommended number of players will be able to request a waitlist player. No coach can request a specific player from the waitlist, only the first available based on when they registered.

Player Spotlight Series

Our Player Spotlight Series is a social media post every Wednesday that highlights a successful game for one of our players in another sport, school, or organization. HERE is an example of our Player Spotlights

For your child to receive a spotlight, send the following information to Dawsyn Snyder (info below):

1) Player Name and Year they joined our league
2) Team or School name and who they played
3) The score of the game and their game stats
4) A picture of them playing in our league
5) A picture of them in the game we are spotlighting

Player of the Week Series

Our Player of the Week Series is a social media post every Friday that highlights a successful game for one of our players in our own league.

For your child to receive a spotlight, send the following information to Dawsyn Snyder (info below):

1) Player Name and Year they joined our league
2) Team and division they play for
3) Their game stats
4) A picture of them playing in our uniform

Podcast Series

Our weekly Podcast aims to give our players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters a platform.

For more information, or to sign up your child or yourself for our Podcast series, please click HERE.

Fundraising opt-out fee

Keeping our league affordable comes with the premise that all of our families will participate in fundraising to cover other fees associated with the league: referees (usually $30k per season), field rentals (approx. $10k), equipment, field paint, etc.

However, we have come to find that some families prefer to pay an opt out fee upfront rather than pay for fundraising. This fee will be $55 per player and will be one of our registration question options. If you do not pay this fee, it is understood that you will be sending your fundraising link out to the best of your ability as described below.

4) Mrs. Fields Cinnamon Roll Fundraiser

In order to keep our fees low, we are going to rely on our wonderful families and community to fundraise together by selling Mrs. Fields Cinnamon Rolls. We will receive 50% of all purchases AND 80% of all direct donations through the donate button.

This is a simple, online fundraiser that does not require our families to collect money or deliver Cinnamon Rolls to anyone. Mrs. Fields will take all payments virtually through their website AND mail customers their order directly to their homes. All our families need to do is create their custom page through the Mrs. Fields Fundraising Portal and share their link to family, friends, and coworkers. All purchases and donations made through your link will be tracked on your profile and we will update the leaderboard every day. Information on how to get your link is below:

We will have prizes available to the top three Cinnamon Roll Fundraisers as follows:

1st Place family: Disney Gift Card with amount equivalent of Three 2-Day Passes

2nd Place family: Disney Gift Card with amount equivalent of Two 2-Day Passes

3rd Place family: Disney Gift Card with amount equivalent of One 2-Day Pass

5) Coaching

"A coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in a lifetime," Billy Graham

Our amazing volunteer coaches are the backbone of The Coach Sarna League. We may have 2,000 kids who want to play soccer, but we need the coaches in order to form the teams and participate.

The Coach Sarna League also has developed a pre-set 8-week soccer practice plan as well as a list and videos of drills for your team(s) to use, or you can make your own practices. We also hold an in-person coach clinic to ensure every coach is in a place to succeed.

HERE is a link for everything you need to know, including practice schedules, for coaching each age division.

We are excited to partner up with the San Jose Earthquakes to deliver an informative and hands-on pre-season coaching clinic for our coaches that will take place on Saturday, February 7th (time TBD, most likely early morning). The coaches will receive cones, soccer balls, an MLS coaches shirt, and team uniforms at the Coach Clinic

If you or anyone you know are willing to be trained as a head coach or assistant coach, please call/text Coach Ryan Sarna immediately at 707-316-3029.

NOTE: It is important to remember that we are a volunteer-based league, and we rely on fa-milies and friends for coaching. In the event that we have more teams than coaches, some teams will be dissolved in order to maintain the integrity of our league. A full refund will be awarded to families in the case of dissolving a team from not having a coach.

6) Scholarships

It is the mission of our league that every kid who wants to play, will indeed play regardless of their financial circumstances

HERE is our MLS GO Scholarship Form.

Most MLS grants are $40 towards your registration; you will need to cover the remaining balance. Only head coaches and stadium volunteers (need to be in advance of registration deadline) are guaranteed full scholarships.

A full scholarship covers the full registration fee and uniform. It does not cover a fundraising opt-out or the non-volunteer fee if you choose not to volunteer.

Head coaches, LEVI's Stadium/Stanford Stadium volunteers, and MLS GO Fund recipients are guaranteed a scholarship. All other scholarship requests will be on a waitlist until the weekend before registration closes, and we will work through the waitlist based on the amount of LEVI's Stadium Volunteers we have for the summer and fall LEVI's Stadium events.

Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis as well as need (i.e. if we needed more 6th grade girls then the first 6th grade girl on the waitlist would have preference)

Easiest way to earn a scholarship if not approved for MLS GO Fund:

Anyone who is willing to become a head coach (HC) can ask for our Head Coach Scholarship that will pay for the registration and gear. This includes any of your friends or family that you recommend becoming a head coach on behalf of your child's team. This is because some people may not be able to coach, but know someone who would such as an uncle, auntie, friend etc.

Become an Assistant Coach (AC) for a team and you will receive a half-scholarship. Just as the head coach position, if anyone from your reference becomes an assistant coach for your child's team then you can claim that AC Half-Scholarship.

Volunteer for at a LEVI's Stadium or Stanford event (one time per scholarship) for a full-scholarship before registration closes on Monday. January 19th.

7) Refund Policy

The MLS GO organization does not allow us to return jerseys or other items once delivered. Therefore, families have until January 19th to withdraw for a full refund. Families who withdraw from January 26th until the season begins can request a 50% refund. No refund will be issued to any family once the season begins.

Remember, all orders will be distributed by head coaches after the coaching clinic where they will receive their team uniforms and equipment.

DISCLAIMER: MLS GO does not refund anything ordered in the wrong size. Therefore, if you order the wrong size there are no exchanges and you will need to repurchase the item or make do with the size.

Player Equipment:
As noted above, all registrations include a reversible MLS team jersey, MLS team shorts, and MLS team socks.
