League Policies and Waivers

Code of Conduct Policy

The Coach Sarna League has a mission to provide a safe and enjoyable environment at all of our events, and our approved Code of Conduct coincides with that mission. By participating in The Coach Sarna League, you agree to our Code of Conduct and promise to support the spirit of youth sports and the league.

Every coach, player, parent, and their respective guests commit to the following:

1. To always show good sportsmanship to players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and parents at every game.

2. To always be encouraging to the athletes of both teams and never engage in taunting, intimidating, disrespectful, hostile, or aggressive behavior.

3. To not argue with coaches, referees, league representatives, volunteers, or other parents, and to promote a fun, encouraging, and safe environment.

You are responsible for the conduct and actions of yourself, your child, and your guests at our events. If failure to abide by our Code of Conduct requires league intervention, a first incident will draw a written warning from the league. A second incident may result in a suspension from participation for a time the league deems appropriate. A third incident may result in the removal of you and potentially your family from The Coach Sarna League. Any physical altercation may result in an immediate and permanent suspension. No refunds are issued for dismissal under this policy.

Concussion Awareness Waiver

The Coach Sarna League follows California youth sports concussion protocols. A concussion is a brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body, and even what appears to be a mild bump can be serious. Common signs include headache, dizziness, confusion, balance problems, nausea, sensitivity to light or noise, and changes in behavior. Symptoms can appear right away or hours or days later.

By registering, each parent or guardian and player acknowledges the following:

1. A player suspected of sustaining a concussion or head injury at any league practice, game, or event will be immediately removed from play for the remainder of the day. When in doubt, we sit them out.

2. A player removed for a suspected head injury may not return to league activity until evaluated by a licensed health care provider trained in concussion management and the league receives written clearance to return to play.

3. If a concussion is diagnosed, the player completes a graduated return-to-play protocol of no fewer than seven days under the supervision of a licensed health care provider.

4. Parents and guardians agree to tell the league about any head injury that happens outside league activities.

We encourage every family to review the CDC Heads Up concussion materials for youth sports. Protecting young brains comes before any game.

Name and Likeness Waiver

By participating in The Coach Sarna League, each parent or guardian grants the league permission to photograph and record players and family members at league games, practices, and events, and to use those photos, videos, and player names in league materials. This includes our website, social media, newsletters, flyers, registration pages, fundraising materials, and coverage shared with our program partners such as NFL Flag, 49ers Flag, MLS GO, and the YOUNG3. This permission is granted without compensation.

We use imagery to celebrate our athletes and promote the league's non-profit mission only, and we never sell player information or media. Any family may opt out at any time by emailing thecoachsarnaleague@gmail.com with the player's name. We will exclude that player from future published media and remove requested images within our control.

Refund Policy

Registration fees fund uniforms, insurance, field permits, referees, and equipment, and much of that is committed before the first game.

1. If the league cancels a season or a player's division before it begins, families receive a full refund.

2. Refund requests made before the season's registration close date are honored, minus payment processing fees and any items already ordered for the player, such as custom jersey lettering.

3. After registration closes or once uniforms are ordered, fees are non-refundable. The league may, at its discretion, offer a credit toward a future season instead.

4. No refunds are issued when a player or family is dismissed under the league Code of Conduct.

5. Medical hardship situations are reviewed case by case. Contact us and we will work with your family.

6. Discounts, scholarships, and volunteer credits have no cash value and are not refundable.

Medical Release Waiver

Each parent or guardian, on behalf of the registering player, agrees to the following for all league activities, including practices, games, scrimmages, clinics, camps, and events at any facility we use.

1. Fitness to participate. I confirm that my player is physically able to participate and that I have disclosed any medical conditions that may affect safe participation, including allergies and medications.

2. Emergency medical authorization. If my player is injured or ill and I cannot be reached in the moment, I authorize league staff, coaches, and volunteers to obtain or provide medical care they reasonably believe is necessary, including first aid, evaluation by on-site medical personnel, and emergency transport and treatment. The league will contact me as quickly as possible.

3. Responsibility for costs. I understand the league is not responsible for the quality or outcome of medical care and that I am responsible for all costs of medical care and transportation for my player.

4. Assumption of risk. I understand youth sports involve inherent risks, including collisions, falls, strains, fractures, concussions, and weather-related conditions, and I voluntarily accept these risks as a condition of participation.

5. Insurance. I understand families are responsible for their own medical insurance and the league does not provide individual medical coverage for participants.

This authorization remains in effect for the current registration year.
